BASSETERRE, St. Kitts -- Police have confirmed that charges have been formally brought against the mother of two children who were found dead in their Upper Monkey Hill home on Friday, February 9th.
In a media statement, authorities announced that thirty-five-year-old Colander Caines of Upper Monkey Hill, St. Peter’s, St. Kitts, has been charged with two counts of murder for the deaths of four-year-old Calaysia Caines (female) and six-month-old Kevon Caines (male).
The alleged acts occurred between February 8th and 9th, 2024.
Caines was charged on February 12th, 2024, at the Basseterre Police Station. The charges come following autopsy reports confirming Mechanical Asphyxia as the cause of death for the children.
