BASSETERRE, St. Kitts -- Police have confirmed that two more young men have been charged for the attempted robbery of Rams Supermarket in Nevis last year.
In a media statement, police announced that Tarique Hanley of Hull Ground and Javauni Edwards of Clay Ghaut were both charged on February 13, 2024, for their roles in the botched robbery.
On August 20, at around 2:30 pm, five armed men attempted a brazen robbery of the supermarket, attacking and injuring the security officer on duty at the time. Following their preliminary investigations, police disclosed that the men attempted to rob the establishment by asking the cashier to open the cash register. When they were unsuccessful, the men fled the scene in a vehicle that was stolen from a customer entering the supermarket.
Police have charged Hanley with three offenses: two counts of Assault with Intent to Rob and one count of Conspiracy to Commit Robbery. Edwards, on the other hand, was charged on February 13, 2024. Police stated that he faces four charges: three counts of Assault with Intent to Rob and one count of Conspiracy to Commit Robbery.
