By: Staff Reporter, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts -- THE Federation  was once again rocked by tragedy as news spread of the fatal shooting of 42-year-old Leon Isaac from Conaree in Trafalgar Village.

This incident marks the sixth homicide of the year, plunging yet another family into mourning.

According to law enforcement officials, the shooting occurred between 11:00 and 11:30 p.m. Isaac was ambushed by an armed assailant as he exited a nearby residence, sustaining multiple gunshot wounds.

Comparatively, the number of homicides has seen an increase from the previous year. In 2023, three fatalities were recorded, whereas 2024 has already seen six.

Addressing the escalating criminal activity, the High Command of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force has been actively implementing initiatives to combat the surge in violence. Recently, the force celebrated the graduation of new recruits as part of their strategic plan for 2023-2026.

Commissioner Sutton emphasized the importance of collaboration in achieving their objectives, underscoring that serving in the force is more than just a job—it's a commitment to serving and protecting the community.

Efforts to curb crime remain ongoing, with authorities rallying community support to address the root causes and ensure the safety and security of all citizens and residents
