SKELEC Throws Support Behind Garden Hotspurs

By: Staff Reporter,

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts — THE St. Kitts Electrical Company Limited (SKELEC) has thrown its support behind the Garden Hotspurs team in the SKNFA Premier League as the club embarks on a new season aiming for more silverware.

On Thursday evening, the club received a cheque for EC$25,000 as part of SKELEC's commitment to enhancing the skill sets and acquiring necessary gear for the club. Nubian Greaux, President of the Garden Hotspurs, expressed gratitude for the sponsorship, highlighting its timeliness and emphasizing its role in assisting at-risk youths within the Mcknight community.

"Acquiring SKELEC as a partner of the Garden Hotspurs Football Club is a significant achievement for us. We've secured a corporate sponsor within our community, supported by our community, for our community. Their generous sponsorship of $25,000 will greatly aid us in achieving our financial goals for acquiring equipment and essential tools," noted Greaux.

Jomo Williams, General Manager of SKELEC, emphasized that partnering with the club and its surrounding community was an easy decision, aligning with the company's broader corporate social responsibility initiatives.

"As part of SKELEC’s corporate social responsibilities, the Board of Directors saw it fitting to sponsor the Garden Hotspurs for the current season," stated Williams. "It was a straightforward decision for the board, considering SKELEC's presence in the heart of the Mcknight community, where the Garden Hotspurs reside."

Williams also reminded that the electricity company has previously collaborated with other organizations and individuals to provide assistance to the community, with the Garden Hotspurs sponsorship being a primary example of their ongoing initiatives within the area.
