BASSETERRE, St. Kitts -- THE Ministry of Health has issued a public advisory urging citizens and residents to exercise caution as the warm weather persists this week, following a trend that began last week.
Over the weekend, temperatures soared, with readings exceeding 31°C, as per statements released by the ministry. Specifically, on Friday, April 5th, temperatures reached 31.6°C, followed by 31.8°C on Saturday, April 6th, and 31.4°C on Sunday, April 7th.
With the continuation of this heat pattern expected throughout the week, the Chief Medical Officer's Office has issued recommendations to mitigate the potential adverse effects of the high atmospheric temperatures.
They advised people to:
Limit outdoor activities and seek shelter indoors during the peak sun hours between 11:00 am and 2:00 pm.
If outdoor exposure is unavoidable, ensure adequate protection by wearing a hat, applying sunscreen with appropriate SPF.
