BASSETERRE, St. Kitts -- THE organizers of the Caribbean Premier League have officially released the schedule for this year’s season, with the Federation once again playing host to games early in the competition.

According to the CPL, the biggest party in sport will kick off at Warner Park on August 31st, when the Patriots take on the Trinbago Knight Riders, followed by a match against the St. Lucia Kings the next evening. A significant fixture will be the host team facing off against the defending champions, Guyana Amazon Warriors, on September 4th, with subsequent matches against Barbados on the 6th and Antigua and Barbuda on the 8th.

The tournament commences in Antigua and Barbuda at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, where the recently rebranded franchise will begin their campaign.

“The tournament gets underway with the newest CPL franchise, the Antigua & Barbuda Falcons, hosting their nearest rivals, the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots. The tournament will have two legs running concurrently, with all six teams hosting home matches,” stated CPL in a media release.

The 2024 season is scheduled to run from Thursday, August 29th to Sunday, October 6th. This marks the first time since 2019 that the event will visit six host countries, with matches set to take place in Antigua & Barbuda, Barbados, Guyana, St Kitts & Nevis, Saint Lucia, and Trinidad & Tobago.

In total, there will be 34 matches, with each of the six teams playing 10 group matches. The knockout stages will occur in Guyana, with the home team, the Guyana Amazon Warriors, aiming to defend the title they won in 2023.

Michael Hall, Tournament Operations Director for the Republic Bank CPL, expressed his anticipation, stating, “We are looking forward to getting underway in Antigua & Barbuda with matches back in the country for the first time in 10 years. It is also very pleasing to be back having home matches for all six teams with the Biggest Party in Sport set to have an even wider footprint in 2024.”
