CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – POLICE have launched an investigation into a shooting incident in Hamilton, Nevis, which resulted in a male sustaining a gunshot injury.
In their official statement, police reported that the incident occurred on April 23 between 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Lavington Forbes of Hamilton was left with a single gunshot wound to his arm.
Preliminary police investigations revealed that Forbes was approached by an armed assailant while standing near his home. He managed to escape the attack and was promptly transported to Alexandra Hospital in a private vehicle.
This incident is one of several recent shooting incidents in the Federation, where multiple individuals have died
Following his recent travels, Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew met with representatives of the Police Force and the Coast Guard to discuss strategic plans to address the rise in shootings.
The Federation has recorded 11 homicides so far this year.
