BASSETERRE, St. Kitts -- THE aim of the recently inaugurated MV IConnect is to optimize the movement of goods and services, thus enhancing the service quality for the residents of the Federation.
The idea of offering a luxury service aboard a cutting-edge vessel was conceived in 2019, leading to the vessel's completion last year. With its official launch on Tuesday (May 9), the MV IConnect is scheduled to operate four daily trips between St. Kitts and Nevis, spanning four days per week.
The minds behind the venture are Farron Lawrence and Rawle Richards, who are currently focused on ensuring that the pier facility is suitably equipped to welcome visitors to the peninsula location.
Deputy Premier Eric Evelyn expressed pride in the launch, emphasizing its significance as a testament to the confidence in the economies of both St. Kitts and Nevis. Evelyn commended the two directors for their initiative and underscored the deepening relationship between the two islands.
Evelyn also highlighted the timely nature of the initiative, particularly with the anticipated surge in tourist traffic due to various festivals in the upcoming months.
Prime Minister Dr. Terrence Drew reiterated his support for initiatives benefiting the federation, stressing the vital role played by small enterprises, which are integral to its economic landscape.
The launch of MV IConnect signals the commencement of a promising era for connectivity across the federation, facilitating the smooth flow of e-commerce and services, noted Prime Minister Drew.
With a capacity ranging from 30 to 35 vehicles, and accommodating a maximum of 250 passengers, the vessel promises convenience and comfort.
Travelers interested in booking a ride on the vessel can do so conveniently online at https://www.iconnectskn.com/. Passengers are encouraged to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to departure, as physical tickets will not be issued; instead, e-tickets will be scanned upon boarding.
