Basseterre, 23rd February, St. Kitts - St. Kitts is well considered as a hiking destination with something to please everyone, from the casual to the serious hiker. This was reported by Stefani Jackenthal, in a recent article in the New York Times Travel Section.
St. Kitts headed the listing which featured six destinations recommended as ideal for hiking enthusiasts to visit. The writer highlighted an excursion to the top of Mount Liamuiga where she described the trek as leading through "steamy rain forests filled with wildflowers, exotic butterflies....". Described as, "the challenging hike to Dos D'ane Pond&over several steep hills &to the cool, misty peak", was also featured.
When asked about the value of such an inclusion, Christine Walwyn, CEO (Ag.) of the Tourism Authority said, "the article is of tremendous value to us, as the New York Times is the leading newspaper in the New York Metropolitan area. It caters to the upscale clientele that we are seeking to reach in our efforts to market our destination in the United States (US) market ".
The other destinations listed were Dominica, Grenada, Jamaica, Puerto Rico and Costa Rica.
