BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – JUST two days after the daring mid-day robbery at Best Grocery in McKnight, thieves violated the sanctity of the Salvation Army Church on Cayon and Market Streets, Basseterre.

According to Pastor of the Salvation Army Church, Major Ronald Ellis, thieves broke into the place of worship sometime between last night and this morning (Dec. 13), ransacked the building and carried off a Public Address system and a number of microphones.

Ellis said the thieves gained entrance by destroying the front door to the building.

He explained that the break-in was discovered by a passer-by who saw the doors to the church “wide open around 5:00 a.m.” and initially thought that members were affixing early morning Christmas decorations. However, a closer look revealed that the main door was damaged and the passer-by raised an alarm.

The incident was subsequently reported to the police and investigations are ongoing.
