Peru and Chile start the tournament with a draw

By: CONMEBOL, SKNVibes.com

(COPA America) -- In the first half, Chile had more possession than Peru (67% vs. 33%) and also had the clearest opportunity: in the 15 minute, a good collective play by Gareca's team ended with a run down the left flank by Dávila and a cross to Alexis Sánchez who, inside the six-yard box, shot over Gallese's goal.

At the end of the first half, a cross from the left was well connected by Araujo, resulting in Bravo sprawling and securing the ball without giving up a rebound. This was Peru's most dangerous chance in their attempt to open the scoring.

Luis Advíncula had to be replaced in the first half, raising concerns about his condition for the Bicolor team.

In the second half, neither team managed to break the deadlock, and the tie remained until the end of the match. Chile finished with 11 shots (1 on target), while La Bicolor had 7 shots (4 on target).

Paolo Guerrero came on in the second half, thus playing in his sixth edition of the world's oldest national team tournament: 2007, 2011, 2015, 2016, and 2019. He is the Peruvian with the most editions played, alongside José "Chemo" del Solar and Teodoro "Lolo" Fernández.

    What's next?
