By: Staff Reporter, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts -- SUPERMARKET establishments owned and operated by foreign nationals continue to face robbery attempts, with the latest incident occurring in the St. Paul’s area.

Zheng’s Supermarket was targeted by two armed assailants wearing masks, who entered the establishment and escaped with a sum of money. The incident took place between 8:30 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. on Saturday (Jun. 29), according to a police media statement. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Police investigations are ongoing, amidst growing concerns over a recent surge in criminal activities. In recent weeks, there have been multiple incidents involving thefts at "Chinese Supermarkets." Earlier in June, another supermarket was robbed by two armed assailants, resulting in an assault on one of the attendants.

In May, the Hey! Young Chinese Supermarket in College Street Ghaut was similarly targeted, with an assailant wearing a mask stealing money from the cash register before fleeing. On May 27, the T&R Mini Mart in the Shadwell area was targeted, with subsequent attempts by another individual, who was later apprehended.

Police have intensified their efforts to address these incidents.
