BASSETERRE, St. Kitts -- POLICE have arrested and charged a man in connection with a larceny following their investigations.

In a media statement on Wednesday from the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, the police force said officers of the Criminal Investigation Department arrested and charged Hewlette Hanley of West Farm with the alleged offense of Larceny by Servant.

The charge was laid at the Basseterre Police Station on July 12, 2024. Police revealed that Hanley appeared before a Magistrate at the Basseterre Magistrate Court on July 15, where he was granted bail in the sum of $15,000.00 with two sureties and other conditions.

According to primelawyer.com.au, Larceny by Servant is the offense of theft or stealing by a clerk or servant and is often charged when it is alleged that an employee stole from their employer.

Though he was charged with the crime, the police force reminded the public that all individuals “are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.”

The Police Force urged the general public to remain vigilant and dedicated to maintaining the safety and security of the community.
