BASSETERRE, St. Kitts -- POLICE have identified the victim of last evening’s (Jul. 19) shooting incident on Nevis Street as 25-year-old Leshan Henry, a resident of the same location.
The Police Force has opened an investigation after Henry was gunned down around 8:30 p.m while riding his bicycle along the street.
In a media statement, police explained that officers were summoned to the scene, where a preliminary investigation indicated that while Henry was riding his bicycle north along Nevis Street, he was ambushed by an unknown assailant or assailants who opened fire, striking him multiple times.
District Medical Officer, Dr. Matthew, pronounced Henry dead at the scene. Photos and videos began circulating on social media shortly after the incident.
The police force has implemented several measures to tackle the growing crime problem in the Federation, including homicides. In recent weeks, the Federation has seen a number of instances of gun violence.
