BASSETERRE, St. Kitts -- THE Police Force confirmed that 26-year-old Zeron Carey of Conaree Village has been sentenced to five years imprisonment after being charged with Illegal Possession of a Firearm.
According to the police force, Carey appeared before High Court Judge His Lordship Justice Ian Morley KC, where he was sentenced.
On January 9, 2023, the police responded to a report of a shooting incident in Conaree and conducted thorough investigations. Following their probe, Carey and another individual, Corey Francis, were arrested and charged with possession of an illegal firearm on January 12, 2023.
Police said Carey pleaded guilty to the charge on July 18, 2024, and was sentenced to five years imprisonment at His Majesty's Prison. Francis previously received a similar sentence, the police noted.
“The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force commends the efforts of all officers involved in bringing this case to a successful conclusion and reiterates its commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring the safety and security of our citizens,” the force said in a media statement.
