Conaree shooting leaves one dead

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts -- Police have opened an investigation into a recent shooting in the Federation that resulted in a fatality.

     

    Approximately 24 hours after the shooting death of 25-year-old Leshan Henry on Nevis Street, another homicide was recorded when Akeem Archibald was gunned down in Conaree Village on Saturday evening (Jul. 20).

     

    The Police Force reported that at approximately 8:39 p.m., they received a report of a shooting incident in Conaree Village. Officers responded to the scene and observed a black motorcycle on the left side of the road.

     

    Initial investigations revealed that Archibald, 29, of Shadwell Estate and a resident of Conaree Village, was attacked by unknown assailant(s) while riding his motorcycle northwest on a road near his residence.

     

    The gunman fired multiple shots, striking Archibald several times, police said. He was transported to the Joseph N. France (JNF) General Hospital , where he received medical treatment but was pronounced dead around 11:19 p.m.

     

    Archibald’s death brings the number of homicides in the Federation for the year to 19.

     

    While extending condolences to the family and friends of the deceased, police are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact the Violent Crime Unit at 662-3468 or the crime hotline at 707.
