BASSETERRE, St. Kitts — POLICE are currently investigating a robbery at another Asian-owned supermarket, this time in the Lodge Village area.
The incident occurred on July 31, 2024, at approximately 2:45 PM, and resulted in one person being injured after being struck with a gun.
The Police Force reported that officers responded to a robbery at the '7 Days' Chinese Supermarket in Lodge Village. Investigations revealed that two armed, masked gunmen entered the supermarket and demanded money from the cashier, a Chinese national. During the robbery, one of the assailants struck the cashier on the head with his firearm.
Additionally, the police stated that the robbers stole liquor, pastries, tobacco, and an undisclosed amount of cash.
In recent weeks, supermarkets owned by Chinese nationals have been frequently targeted by criminals.
