MOH responds to social media claims

By: Staff Reporter, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts — The Ministry of Health has once again been compelled to address circulating social media claims, this time regarding allegations that the Federation’s premier health facility, the Joseph N. France (JNF) General Hospital, is infested with rats.

Recently, the ministry has repeatedly issued statements in response to public concerns about the conditions at JNF General Hospital. In the latest statement, the Ministry of Health "strongly condemns the recent claims alleging that the JNF General Hospital is ‘infested by rats’".

The ministry further asserted that these accusations are "both baseless and misleading, aimed at creating unwarranted fear and distrust in our primary healthcare institution."

The video in question is the latest in a series of criticisms and concerns raised about the hospital. Issues such as leaking rooms, staff attitudes, and unsanitary bathroom conditions have all led to public backlash against successive governments.

"The video being circulated lacks any credible evidence of its date or time, raising serious doubts about its authenticity. It is highly plausible that this footage was taken years ago and is now being used maliciously to undermine public confidence in our healthcare system,” the ministry stated.

Despite the video, the ministry did not indicate whether an investigation will be or has been conducted. Instead, it emphasized the recent efforts made to upgrade the facility, including the work done to enhance the aesthetics of the hospital entrance.
