CHARLESTOWN, Nevis - THE Nevis Fishermen’s Marketing & Supply Cooperative Society Limited (NFMSCSL) has issued a call to all fishers on the island to become members of the entity.

Speaking with SKNVibes on Monday (Dec. 14), President of the NFMSCSL Emanuel Richards explained that there are many benefits available to fishers should they accept the call for membership.

Among the benefits are the reduced cost of fishing equipment and gears such as life jackets, floating searchlights, buoys, feather baits, ice, trays, rollers, lines, fishing hooks, gloves, motor oil and west system.

Richards further explained that various species of fish are also sold at the Cooperative and they are bought at a reasonable price from fishers who are members of the entity, noting that a small fee is added for cleaning and freezing before being sold to the public.

Richards and other members of the NFMSCSL are in high praise of the Nevis Island Administration for a $75 000 donation towards the reopening of the Cooperation. He explained that the doors to the Cooperation were closed for over 18 months but were reopened to the public on June 28, 2008.

According to Richards, the NFMSCSL is comprised of a seven-member Board and three staff members, and anyone desirous of membership to the Cooperative is asked to visit the Manager, William Griffin, at the Public Market on Market Street Charlestown or call 469-5793.
