BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – The St. Kitts-Nevis Patriots are eager to bounce back when they face the Guyana Amazon Warriors this evening (Sept. 4) at Warner Park.

After suffering back-to-back defeats on their home ground, Patriots' Captain Andre Fletcher is resolute that his team must defend their turf if they hope to advance further in the tournament.

Speaking to reporters in Basseterre, Fletcher emphasized the importance of the Patriots "owning" their home ground as they aim to make a significant impact in the competition. So far, they have only managed to secure one win in their three matches.

“No one shouldn't come in here and just do what they feel like and go,” Fletcher asserted. “It's time for us now, as a team and as a leader, to stand for this team, stand for the people of St. Kitts and Nevis, and stand for the fans in the Diaspora.”

Despite the team’s impressive batting performances, where they scored over 200 runs in consecutive matches, fans have been left disappointed as the Patriots lost both games. Both Fletcher and the coach acknowledged that while the batting has been consistent, the team’s bowling remains a significant challenge.

Reflecting on the season so far, Fletcher noted that “aside from the results, the standards we expect and discuss in the dressing room have been slightly below par.”

“There has been improvement as far as the bowling is concerned in the last game, because you see in the previous game we created a lot of opportunities. But like I keep mentioning, and I think Fletcher will start thinking that I'm sounding like a broken record now, the evidence of our positive things when we're playing the game is in the details,” Head Coach, Malolan Rangarajan

He added, “So the boys are very aware, they've been very, very motivated. The two days of break I think have come at a very good time for us to regroup. We've had a couple of meetings internally.”

With two games remaining after tonight’s encounter, Fletcher is determined to give the fans something to cheer about before they hit the road.

“To give the fans a smile by the time of our last game against the Falcons, we need to ensure we’re in a strong position moving on to St. Lucia. From there, we’ll take it step by step.”

The action kicks off at 7:00 p.m. at Warner Park.
