Cayon youth says Cedric is still the one

Hon. Cedric Liburd
Labour Secretariat

Upper Cayon, 16 December, 2009 (Labour Secretariat) - Miss Nekkiesha Butler-Wilson of Upper Cayon says that Cedric Liburd is still “by far the best” choice as candidate for Cayon and Constituency 8 as a whole.

In 1995, at the age of 17, young Butler praised Cedric Liburd for his honesty and humility, and for his will and commitment to service. The young poet said then that she knew “he’s a politician of class” for whom young and old would have cast their votes.

Butler, today a 31-year-old young lady and continued resident of Cayon, believes that Liburd has continued to live up to the expectations of voters and her poetry of 1995. “The many houses and lands that have been given in Cayon is unbelievable. Our man of business, Cedric, has done that for us.”

Butler said that in this last term that she is happy to have become a land owner. She was able to join with over 400 other members of the Cayon Community who received lots of lands at Cabbage Tree, Spooner’s Extension, Hermitage Extension and St. Mary’s Development.

She also highlighted the benefits that Cayon has derived from a new community centre and the upgraded library and postal hall facilities found therein.

“Mr. Liburd has done a great job,” Butler said reminiscing on the past 14-plus years.

As a balanced and conscientious voter, Butler however said that one criticism she has had of her representative is that he has tried too hard to help those who refuse to support him, “but I guess that is what is meant by representative and he has represented.

“For this alone, I need to see him go back in office to continue the work so that all people may continue to experience the progress that has taken place in this community and country,” Butler said.

Butler believes strongly that she is not alone and that her views are widely accepted by the people of Cayon who have sought and received sterling representation from the Action Man.

Today, Butler believes that her words of 1995 are ever most applicable –
“Do you need a representative to pave the way forward?
The man with the initiative is Labour’s Cedric Liburd!”
