BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force has confirmed the arrest of Avion Huggins and Lewis Powell in relation to the 2023 murder of DeAndre Browne, a resident of New Road.
In recent weeks, law enforcement has made significant progress in solving several homicide cases. This latest arrest highlights the police force's ongoing efforts to bring those responsible for violent crimes to justice.
In a media statement on Friday (Sept. 6) police disclosed that Huggins, 28, and Powell, 33, both from McKnight, have been formally charged with one count of murder each. The charges were filed at the Basseterre Police Station on September 6, 2024.
The incident dates back to the night of September 9, 2023, when gunshots were heard between 11:00 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. in the Buckley’s area. Officers responding to the scene discovered the lifeless body of 24-year-old Browne in the parking lot of the movie theatre.
“The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force extends its gratitude to the general public for their continued cooperation as our officers steadily press on in pursuit of justice,” the police statement said.
