BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – HOT ROD, one of the Federation’s witty calypsonians and favourite for the 2009/2010 St. Kitts-Nevis National Carnival Best of the Rest Competition, has released his second song.

‘Discipline You Child’ is his second song following his ‘P-Peep’ tune and comes with a strong message, urging parents to pay special attention and care to their children.

“Now-a-days you see children getting involved in stuff they are not supposed to, and you see youths killing adults and other youths. I think the parents should look at the situation and try to do better,” he said.

It was written by Lord Kent, who also produced the musical accompaniment for the song which was recorded at Platinum Recording Studio.

Hot Rod, whose real name is Jamal Butler, said he owes it all to Lord Kent. “Lord Kent is my friend. He has been helping me with my music and he has been pushing me and has helped me improve. I want to thank him for what he has done for me,” he said.

Hot Rod said that he has been enjoying his time so far spent in the calypso tent and is looking forward to see if he would be chosen to compete in the Best of the Rest Competition.

“I’m just happy to have the support of the people so far,” he said.

Presently, he has CDs on sale with all of his past and new tunes including ‘P-Peep’, ‘Shontelle’, ‘Sandra’, ‘Melissa’, ‘Just do it’, ‘Don’t accuse me’, ‘Tie you cat’ and ‘Discipline You Child’.
