By: Staff Reporter, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – AMID ongoing concerns about the presence of cocaine in the Federation, a recent police operation has yielded both the illegal drug and ammunition.

The police had previously acknowledged the presence of cocaine in the Federation, clarifying that while the territory is not becoming a transshipment point for the drug, it is being found aboard vessels within the Federation.

On Friday (Sept. 6), authorities executed a search warrant at the residence of Laurie ‘Savan’ Joseph Henry, located on Malone Avenue. Officers from the Anti-Narcotics Unit carried out the operation, and during the search, they seized three zippered plastic bags.

Two of these bags, according to the police,  contained a white powdery substance, which was later confirmed to be cocaine, while the third bag held five live .45 caliber rounds of ammunition.

The Police Force did not disclose the quantity of cocaine found.

On September 10, the police announced that Henry had been charged with possession of ammunition, possession of cocaine, and possession of cocaine with intent to supply.

He was arrested on September 6, 2024, and the charges were officially filed on September 8, 2024, at the Basseterre Police Station. He remains on remand as the investigation continues.
