This high-level forum was convened on the sidelines of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly and brought together international leaders and experts to discuss how AI can be applied to address key global challenges, such as climate change, food security, poverty, and education. A central theme of the discussions was ensuring that AI systems are developed and deployed in ways that are safe, secure, and trustworthy.

Dr. Douglas’ presence at the event reaffirmed St. Kitts and Nevis’ commitment to staying engaged in conversations surrounding emerging technologies and their role in sustainable development. The meeting also reinforced the importance of international cooperation in building ethical frameworks that govern AI to benefit all nations, including Small Island Developing States (SIDS).
