David Lee Supermarket targeted again by bandits

By: Staff Reporter, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts — Police announced this afternoon (Sept. 30) that they are investigating a robbery at the David Lee Supermarket located in Cabbage Tree Hill, Cayon.

The incident took place on Sunday (Sept. 29) between 8:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.

According to a police statement, officers responded to the scene and spoke with the owner, who reported that a masked male suspect, dressed in black and blue clothing, entered the supermarket and held the cashier at gunpoint.

The assailant then stole an undisclosed sum of money from the cash register before fleeing the scene. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

In recent months, the Federation has seen a surge in robberies targeting Chinese-operated supermarkets.

The David Lee Supermarket, in particular, has been a repeated target. Just last year, armed assailants robbed the establishment of an undisclosed sum of cash. At that time, police reported that two masked, armed individuals held both the store’s owner and a security guard at gunpoint. The suspects managed to gain access to the establishment and stole cash from the register along with other small items.

Police investigations into both incidents are ongoing.
