    ...Federation’s Leaders send congratulations

WASHINGTON, D.C. — FORMER United States President Donald Trump has returned to lead the country following his decisive victory in yesterday's (Nov. 5) election, surprising many around the globe.

Despite controversial statements during his campaign, Trump secured critical battleground states to reach the 270 electoral votes needed to win. By press time, Trump had 296 electoral votes compared to Vice President Kamala Harris’s 226, though some votes were still being counted.

Across the U.S. and on social media, the election outcome has generated shock and disappointment in several states. Early data show that the Republican Party gained ground in key regions, chipping away at Democratic strongholds.

In his acceptance speech, Trump outlined several plans for his new term, including addressing immigration issues and uniting a divided nation. “We're going to help our country heal,” he said. “We have a country that needs help, and it needs help very badly. We're going to fix our borders, we're going to fix everything about our country and we've made history for a reason tonight, and the reason is going to be just that.”

Vice President Harris conceded this afternoon and congratulated Trump on his victory, noting, It’s not the outcome we wanted or fought for, but let me say this: the light of America’s promise will always burn bright. She added, “Earlier today, I spoke with President-elect Trump and congratulated him on his victory.”

Since Trump’s victory, leaders from around the region have extended their congratulations. Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew of St. Kitts and Nevis shared his well-wishes, stating, “On behalf of the government and people of St. Kitts and Nevis, I extend congratulations to President-elect Donald Trump on his election victory. St. Kitts and Nevis looks forward to continuing our strong partnership with the United States. Together, we can strengthen our shared values of democracy, expand economic opportunities, and advance our mutual interest for global peace and stability.”

President Irfaan Ali of Guyana also congratulated Trump, saying, “I extend heartfelt congratulations to President-elect Donald Trump on his victory in Tuesday’s election in the United States. Guyana looks forward to working closely with the incoming administration to further strengthen the already robust ties between our two nations.”

Premier Mark Brantley of St. Kitts and Nevis added, “We all have opinions, but the voice of the people is the voice of God. Congratulations to the United States of America President-elect Donald Trump. We look forward to enhanced relations between the USA and St. Kitts and Nevis over the next four years and beyond.”

Other regional leaders, including Prime Minister Gaston Browne of Antigua and Barbuda, also congratulated the President-elect on his victory.
