BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, November 6, 2024 (MMS-SKN) -- The Village at Brotherson Estate is offering prospective homeowners a fitting alternative to the current upscale areas, and the St. Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla National Bank Limited is encouraging young graduates to invest in homes there by offering them mortgage loans at special rates.

“I think this is an excellent opportunity for prospective homeowners to buy into a development that is upscale that is other than Frigate Bay, or Mattingley Heights, or Four Seasons or something like that,” said Mr David Lake, Group Commercial Head, St. Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla National Bank Limited.

Mr Lake made the remarks on Sunday November 3 at an Open Day event held at The Village at Brotherson Estate in Newtown Ground where the Bank had a booth. The estate, which is part of the wider Whitegate Development Corporation, had open days on Saturday and Sunday (November 2&3) to market the housing development to prospective investors.

The Village at Brotherson Estate, which is for middle income residential development and other commercial development, has 66 residential lots ranging in size between 6,000 square feet and 9,863 square feet, and three commercial lots ranging in size between 25,562 square feet and 31,787 square feet.

Marketing under the theme ‘A world of Difference’, on offer are two, three and four bedroom traditional design houses, and two and three modern design houses. Architectural drawings of the units are available, while two traditional design houses each of two bedrooms are ready and were open for viewing during the two open days.

“This is a really tremendous opportunity, I think, for locals to buy into a really classy upscale development, and so I would like to congratulate Whitegate on this move,” said Mr Lake. The development, he added, is economically a very savvy move, and according to him, “I could see this is such a beautiful development the way it is laid out. They are not going to have trouble selling these homes.”

Accompanying Mr Lake on the National Bank booth on Sunday were Mr Lerone McIntosh, Loans Manager, Sandy Point branch of the St. Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla National Bank Limited, and Marketing Officer, Ms Zara Prince. They gave information on the two types of mortgage loans that are on offer to prospective homeowners.

Mr David Lake explained that those who are interested in the houses at The Village at Brotherson Estate but do not have money, the Bank has two products, APEX which is a mortgage loan targeted at graduates with a bachelor’s degree or higher, and OWN Home Mortgage which is a suite of products open to residents who are desirous of building or purchasing a new home.

“APEX is one of our mortgage products designed for graduates because we recognise that one would have done the right thing to get the education,” said Mr Lake. “We allow them to consolidate their student loan into their mortgage and get the financing they need to own their first home. So I think that is one of the tremendous products that we have - exceptional interest rates, below market rates. Mortgage rates for our APEX graduates are simply unbeatable.”

The Whitegate Development Corporation was represented at the Open Days on the two days, by among others, its Chairman, Mr Lincoln Maynard; Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Mr Ellis Hazel. Other officials of the corporation included Ms Ramona Benjamin, Accounts Officer; and Ms Kavita Francis, Director of Marketing.

Visiting the Open Day events at The Village at Brotherson Estate included Senior Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Economic Development and Investment, et al. and also Area Parliamentary Representative, the Rt. Hon Dr Denzil Douglas; Minister of Tourism et al. the Hon Marsha Henderson; Cabinet Secretary Dr Marcus Natta; Director of the St. Kitts Investment Promotion Agency (SKIPA), Mr Stanley Jacobs; and Chairman of Development Bank of St. Kitts and Nevis, Mr Shavon Douglas, among others.

According to Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director at Whitegate Development Corporation, Mr Ellis Hazel, National Bank was one of the sponsors of the Open Days held on two days. Others were Courts Limited who outfitted the two show houses, and Island Purified Water who provided water and refreshments and also the branded water bottles with the logos of The Village at Brotherson Estate, and Whitegate Development Corporation.
