BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – NATIONALS and residents of St. Kitts and Nevis, as well as visitors to the Federation, will see a significant increase of police foot and mobile patrols on the streets during the Christmas/Carnival season.

This decision was made by the High Command of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force on Wednesday (Dec. 16) when the echelons held their final monthly Police Advisory Group Meeting for the year at the Frigate Bay Beach Hotel Conference Room.

In execution of the Force’s Strategic Plan for the festive season, the Advisory Group decided to launch a series of aggressive patrols by the Anti-Gang Unit in known hot spots and also an increase of police presence and high visibility foot and mobile patrols on the streets of the Federation.

Additionally, there will be regular Stop and Search Operations and random vehicular check points; robust patrols and surveillance of ports and open borders; and there will also be increased cooperation among the Police Force, Defence Force, Customs and private security agencies.

Commissioner of Police Austin Williams declared that the Strategic Plan was already in effect and “we have to continue to be proactive. I am happy we have gone ahead months in advance to implement the Strategic Plan, and our successes are evident”.

He noted that throughout the year, the Police Force has successfully provided security to many events and festivals without any major incidents.

Commissioner Williams also took the opportunity to thank the high-level officers for their support and commitment throughout what he considered to be one of the most challenging years.

He wished his officers well for the Christmas and Carnival season and treated those members present at the Police Advisory Group Meeting to a sumptuous lunch.
