BASSETERRE, St. Kitts -- AFTER two nights of intense competition, 16 performers have secured their spots in the semifinals of the 2024 Calypso Monarch Competition.
Over the weekend, several of the Federation’s top calypsonians took the stage to showcase their talents before both judges and calypso enthusiasts. Following the elimination rounds at Sprat Net, the field was narrowed from 40 to 16.
Duncan ‘Big Lice’ Wattley led the pack with a total of 256 points, closely followed by Issa Kamal with 244 points, Drewzy with 231, and Lady Carens with 230 points.
Also advancing to the semifinals are Queen Kibi (229), Sour Sop (228), Lady Diva (224), Mighty Freddy (220), Hollywood (219), Queen Singing Jackie (216), Invincible (216), Empress Lyrics (214), Green Tea (213), Mighty Kinta (208), King Honesty (208), and Bad Man Polo (207).
Mighty Godfrey, with 206 points, has been named the alternate.
The semifinals are scheduled for December 12, with the grand finals set to take place on December 27 at Carnival Village.
