BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force announced today (Dec. 4) that Tristan Richards of New Road and Brianda Berridge of Gillard’s Meadows have been charged with firearm and ammunition-related offences.
According to a police statement, Richards (27) and Berridge (21) were each charged on two counts: Possession of Firearm and Possession of Ammunition. The alleged offences occurred on November 30, 2024, in Gillard’s Meadows.
The duo was formally charged at the Basseterre Police Station on December 2, 2024, and subsequently remanded to His Majesty’s Prison on December 3, 2024.
Over recent months, law enforcement has intensified efforts to seize illegal firearms and prosecute offenders amidst a rise in homicides across the federation. To combat this surge in violent crime, the police force and the government have implemented several measures, including stop-and-search operations and the execution of search warrants in known hotspots.
These enhanced security initiatives have led to the seizure of numerous illegal weapons and the filing of charges against several individuals.
