PROVIDENCE, Guyana — THE Rangpur Riders overcame a slow start to the tournament to claim the inaugural Global Super League title, defeating Cricket Victoria by 56 runs in an exciting final at the Providence Stadium in Guyana.

Cricket Victoria entered the final as favorites, having dominated the round-robin phase with three wins. However, their pursuit of the 178-run target was derailed by a batting collapse, ending their innings at 122 all out in 18.1 overs.

Opting to bat first after winning the toss, the Riders set the stage with a commanding opening partnership. Steven Taylor (68) and Soumya Sarkar (86) capitalized on favorable conditions, combining for a 124-run stand. Their efforts propelled the Bangladesh-based team to a formidable total of 178/3.

In response, Cricket Victoria struggled to build momentum. Despite a spirited 40-run knock by Joe Clarke, the Australian side faltered under pressure, failing to form any significant partnerships.

The Global Super League, South America’s first standalone T20 competition, was played exclusively at Guyana’s Providence National Stadium. Featuring five international teams vying for a prize pool of US$1 million, the tournament marked a dynamic addition to the global T20 calendar.
