BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – POLICE have launched an investigation into a “serious” accident that has claimed several lives.

Unconfirmed reports indicate that at least two individuals were killed after being ejected from a vehicle during a two-vehicle collision near Brimstone Hill. Videos and photos circulating on social media show the extensively damaged bus and car involved in the crash.

Parliamentary Representative and Government Minister Samal Duggins addressed the tragic incident, extending condolences to the families and friends of the victims.

“This morning, our nation was shaken by the heartbreaking news of another devastating traffic accident that has tragically claimed lives. To the families and friends mourning loved ones, I extend my deepest sympathies. My thoughts and prayers are also with those injured or otherwise affected, as they navigate this painful time.

“As we approach the much-anticipated Christmas and Carnival season—a time of togetherness, cultural expression, and joy—I feel it is essential to address a concern that touches us all. In recent weeks, we have witnessed an alarming rise in traffic accidents, many with tragic outcomes,” the minister wrote.

The minister also reflected on the recent increase in traffic accidents, urging caution as the Christmas and Carnival season approaches—a time traditionally marked by togetherness, cultural celebration, and joy.

The Public Relations Department of the Police Force confirmed the accident in a brief statement to the media.

This latest tragedy occurred just days after two young individuals lost their lives in another accident on the FT Williams Highway.
