BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force has confirmed that Cleon Maxwell ‘Bougna’ Rey of St. Johnston’s Village died of “unnatural causes.”
According to the police, “unnatural causes” refer to deaths that do not result from crimes, traffic accidents, or accidental mishaps such as drowning or falling.
An autopsy conducted on December 16 concluded that there was no foul play involved in Rey’s death.
Rey’s lifeless body was discovered during the early morning hours of December 11 in Bird Rock. Following formal reports of Rey being missing, police officers searched several areas he was known to frequent. This led to the discovery of his parked passenger bus near Coury Hill in Bird Rock.
The police reported that Rey was found lying motionless in nearby foliage, a short distance from his vehicle. He was examined and officially pronounced deceased at the scene.
Since Rey’s passing, an outpouring of condolences has come from both the general public and political figures. Rey has been described as a committed stalwart of the governing St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party.
In a heartfelt social media post, Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew reflected on Rey’s contributions and expressed condolences to his family.
“Cleon was attached to two of my ministries and he worked with distinction, demonstrating unwavering dedication and commitment. He was a proud and unapologetic supporter of our beloved Labour Party, contributing immensely to its mission and values." Drew stated.
