BASSETERRE, St. Kitts — AFTER the lively J’ouvert celebrations on Boxing Day, the Kollision Band emerged victorious, claiming the 2024/2025 Road March title.
The band outperformed several regular top contenders and a few impressive newcomers with 'Keys to the City'. Taking second place was Upset Squad with their entry, Alien, while third place went to the Asap Band.
In the Large J’ouvert Troupe category, which features 200 or more revelers, Excess J’ouvert (The Rodeo) claimed the top spot with 262 points. They were followed by Red Devils (Pirates of the Caribbean) in second place with 232 points and Nu Vybes International (Dusk 2 Dawn) in third with 223 points.
In the Small J’ouvert Troupe category for groups of 50 to 199 revelers, Small Axe Band took first place with their entry, Zodiacs, scoring 192 points. They were followed by Bounce Around by Grand Masters, which earned 167 points.
Meanwhile, the First Troupe to Launch award went to Xcess J’ouvert (The Rodeo). The Individual Mas Player of the Year title was awarded to the ever-present Romaine Belgrove.
Nu Vybes International won the coveted Spirit of J’ouvert title with their performance, Dusk 2 Dawn.
