Police condemn reports circulating following doctor’s death

By: Staff Reporter, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – POLICE on Saturday (Jan. 4) strongly condemned online reports surrounding the death of Dr. Simoneth Williams, who tragically passed away on December 21, 2024, following a vehicular accident in the New Road area.

Dr. Williams was struck by a vehicle while walking along the main road around 11:30 p.m. At the time, authorities confirmed they were aware of the driver and the vehicle involved in the accident. Since the incident, several theories have emerged online regarding her death, particularly in connection to recent social media posts made by Dr. Williams.

This morning, the police issued a statement addressing these claims, stating they are “aware of unfounded claims circulating on various platforms alleging that Dr. Williams’ death was a homicide tied to recent public statements she made.”

The police described these allegations as “irresponsible, inflammatory, and baseless.” The statement further emphasized:

"At this time, there is no evidence to support such claims. The ongoing investigation has not revealed any indication of foul play or criminal intent. We urge the public to refrain from spreading unverified information that could hinder the investigative process or cause unnecessary tension within our community.”

On Friday (Jan. 3), an autopsy report concluded that Dr. Williams’ cause of death was "Cranioencephalic Trauma"—a severe brain injury commonly associated with vehicular accidents, sports injuries, or falls.

The police also reminded the public about the dangers of spreading false or speculative narratives. According to the statement: "We urge the public to refrain from spreading unverified information that could hinder the investigative process or cause unnecessary tension within our community. The spread of false or speculative narratives not only jeopardises public trust, but also has the potential to create divisions among us.”

They urged residents to allow the investigation to proceed without interference or prejudice.
