By: Staff Reporter, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts — THE Police Force confirmed today that Glenkeet Richardson and Jaime Herbert have been granted bail totaling EC$130,000 in connection with separate traffic fatalities.

The two appeared in court recently to face various charges, where the bail amounts and conditions were established.

On January 16, Glenkeet Richardson, of Wingfield Road, Old Road, was granted bail under strict conditions. He faces three charges:

One count of Causing Death by Dangerous Driving, resulting in the death of four-month-old Mekairi Edwards of Halfway Tree, St. Kitts. Two counts of Injuring a Person by Wanton Driving, involving T’an Phipps and Kadedra Lewis.

The charges relate to a head-on collision on January 11 that led to Edwards' death. Richardson was formally charged on January 14 at the Basseterre Police Station.

Magistrate Rhonda Nisbett Browne of the District ‘A’ Magistrate Court in Basseterre set Richardson's bail at EC$30,000 with two sureties. Additional conditions include: Surrendering his driver’s license (which is suspended) and all travel documents. Report to the Old Road Police Station every Monday and Friday between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Refrain from contacting witnesses directly or indirectly and maintaining a distance of at least 100 feet from them.

Jaime Herbert, of Race Course, Newton Ground, St. Kitts, was granted bail on January 17, amounting to EC$100,000 with two sureties.

Herbert faces six charges: Five counts of Causing Death by Dangerous Driving, stemming from a December 11, 2024, accident on the island’s main road in New Guinea near Brimstone Hill. The victims were Rozina Herbert, Malique Rawlins, Belinda Paul, Ian Jules, and Dijorn Davis. One count of Causing Injury by Wanton Driving. Public Reaction.

The significant bail amounts and strict conditions aim to send a strong message against reckless and dangerous driving on the nation’s roads.
