WASHINGTON, D.C. – A small plane crashed in a densely populated area of Philadelphia late last evening, killing seven people and injuring 19 others, just moments after takeoff.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, which comes just days after a fatal collision at Reagan National Airport in Virginia between an American Airlines plane and a Black Hawk helicopter. That crash claimed the lives of 67 people.
According to reports from Philadelphia, all six passengers on board the aircraft perished, along with a man who was inside his car at the time of the crash.
During a press conference on Saturday, officials confirmed that the aircraft was a twin-engine medevac carrying a Mexican family. Among the passengers was a child who had recently undergone a successful operation at Shriners Children’s Hospital in northeast Philadelphia.
