Trinidad and Tobago congratulated after Warner Park triumph

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE Trinidad and Tobago Red Force Ladies claimed the regional Super50 title on Friday (March 7) with a dominant victory seven wicket win  over the Barbados Prides at Warner Park. Their triumph has earned them congratulations from Cricket West Indies’ (CWI) new CEO, Chris Dehring.

A poor batting performance from the Barbados Pride Ladies saw them bowled out for just 71 runs in 29 overs, with veteran player Anisa Mohammed leading the bowling attack. She finished with figures of 3 for 17 from seven overs.

In response, Djenaba Joseph top-scored with 28 runs as Trinidad and Tobago comfortably chased down the target, reaching 75/3 with 26 overs to spare.

Red Force Head Coach Merissa Aguilleira was ecstatic about the victory, telling CWI media that the team worked hard in preparation for the tournament and was thrilled to see their efforts reflected in the results.

“I’m really happy and excited about what happened,” Aguilleira stated.

When the two teams met in the preliminary round, Trinidad and Tobago relied heavily on their spin attack—a strategy they successfully employed again in the final.

Aguilleira credited the spinners for the team's success, emphasizing the importance of sticking to a winning formula.

“I think we had the best spin attack in the competition and we continued to do so throughout our games. I guess, what sense changing something that has been working for us. So I guess we had the discussions   and we went ahead with it and we became successful again,

Newly appointed CWI CEO Chris Dehring extended his congratulations, praising the team's skill and tactical awareness under captain Karishma Ramharack.

“The Trinidad & Tobago Red Force Ladies played with great skill and tactical awareness throughout the tournament. Under Karishma Ramharack’s leadership, they capitalized on their strengths to secure the title. Their consistency highlights the rising talent in Caribbean cricket, and it was inspiring to see so many young players competing at this level,” Dehring stated.

He also commended all the teams for their efforts throughout the tournament and reaffirmed CWI’s commitment to developing women’s cricket and preparing players for success on the international stage.
