Prime Minister Drew Leads Delegation to Saint Martin for the 76th OECS Authority Meeting and Historic Accession Ceremony

By: PMO, Press Release

Basseterre, St. Kitts, March 18, 2025 (PMO) — Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Terrance Drew is leading a delegation from St. Kitts and Nevis to Saint Martin to participate in the 76th Meeting of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) Authority.

The high-level meeting, chaired by Hon. Philip J. Pierre, Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, will address critical regional issues, including economic growth, climate resilience, security, and sustainable development.

Accompanying Prime Minister Drew are Mrs. Diani Prince-Drew, spouse of the Prime Minister; Ms. Naeemah Hazelle, Permanent Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office; H.E. Ambassador Larry Vaughan; Mr. Javon Liburd, Press Secretary; and Mr. Bjorn Hazel, Senior Foreign Services Officer. The delegation will engage in discussions aimed at strengthening diplomatic ties, enhancing cooperation in key sectors such as trade and healthcare, and advancing initiatives aligned with St. Kitts and Nevis’ Sustainable Island State Agenda.

During the visit, Prime Minister Drew and his delegation will also take the opportunity to meet with Kittitians and Nevisians residing in Saint Martin. These engagements will allow for meaningful dialogue with the diaspora, addressing their concerns, updating them on national developments, and exploring opportunities for greater collaboration between the Federation and its overseas citizens.

The OECS, established by the Treaty of Basseterre in 1981, continues to be a vital platform for regional cooperation and governance.

The Government of St. Kitts and Nevis remains committed to the principles of the OECS and looks forward to a productive meeting that will further regional unity and economic progress.
