BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – POLICE have launched an investigation into another fatal traffic accident in the White Gates area, just days after a previous tragedy in the same location. This time, the victim is 15-year-old Kaliquan Woodley of Sandy Point.
According to police reports, the accident occurred between 8:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. along the island’s main road in White Gates.
Initial investigations indicate that Woodley was traveling on a motor scooter from Dieppe Bay toward St. Paul’s when he collided with a vehicle. He fell onto the road and was then struck by another passing vehicle.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but Woodley succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on-site.
This marks the second fatal accident in the area within a week. On March 22, 18-year-old Shanice Harvey of Dieppe Bay died after the vehicle she was traveling in crashed.
Police reported that the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to collide with a tree and overturn. The incident left eight people seriously injured and claimed Harvey’s life.
Authorities continue to grapple with the rising number of road accidents across the Federation. In response, the government recently updated legislation to combat reckless driving and driving under the influence.
This latest tragedy brings the total number of road fatalities for the year to four.
