BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – RESIDENTS across the Federation awoke to shocking news this morning (Apr.5) that the country recorded its first homicide of the year.
Authorities confirmed that a woman was fatally stabbed in the New Road area.
While details remain unclear, police issued a brief statement confirming “a fatal stabbing incident in New Road that claimed the life of a woman.” Her identity has not yet been released.
This tragic event comes as the Federation reflects on a year that saw a slight decrease in homicides. In 2023, there were 28 recorded homicides, compared to 31 the year before.
