WASHINGTON, D.C. — CONCERNS about aviation safety in the United States are mounting following two separate incidents today, including a fatal helicopter crash that claimed at least five lives.
Authorities in New York are conducting recovery efforts after a helicopter plunged into the Hudson River this afternoon (April 10), killing all six people on board, including children. Officials have confirmed that the victims were a family visiting from Spain.
Dramatic video footage captured the moment the Bell 206 helicopter fell from the sky. Early indications suggest the aircraft may have suffered engine failure.
Earlier in the day, a separate incident occurred at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, where the wings of two American Airlines planes clipped during taxiing.
