BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – POLICE on Nevis are investigating an incident that left one man nursing a bullet wound in the Alexandra Hospital, while their counterparts on St. Kitts are investigating a shooting incident in Mansion.

Reports reaching SKNVibes state that McKinnon Claxton was shot in the upper back in Bath Village just before 6:00 a.m. on Christmas Day, and this was confirmed by a senior officer at the Charlestown Police Station.

Information coming out of Nevis further states that Claxton, who resides in Bath Village, was on his way home when he was shot by a gunman. He was taken to the Alexandra Hospital, where he is in critical but stable condition.

This media house also learnt that the bullet is still lodged in Claxton’s back and family members are seeking to fly him to Cuba. Additionally, he was shot in the same area where his brother, Akion Claxton, was shot to death on Friday, August 21, 2009.

According to police on Nevis, no one was held responsible for McKinnon Claxton’s shooting but investigations are ongoing.

Meanwhile, police on St. Kitts had responded to a report of shooting in Mansion Housing Project at about 10:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 24.

According to the Police Press and Public Relations Officer, Inspector Vaughan Henderson, “Investigations revealed that a number of gunshots were fired at Jarvis Sobratie of Mansion Housing Project. No one was injured in this incident. No one has been arrested in relation to this incident. Investigations are ongoing.”

SKNVibes however learnt that Sobratie has a brother who is a member of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force but could not confirm a report, which stated that the gunman/gunmen ran away from the scene after a number of shots were fired in retaliation.
