Paul 'Bankie' Giscombe, manager of Grammy Award-winning dancehall icon Bounty Killer (Rodney Price, OD), is thrilled to announce the artist's long-awaited return to the United States stage after a 15-year hiatus. The event billed, 'The Return of the Warlord Bounty Killer,' is scheduled for Saturday, July 5, 2025—Independence Weekend—at the 18,000-capacity Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Presented by renowned Reggae Fest promoter CJ Miilan—who recently made headlines for two back-to-back sold-out Vybz Kartel shows at the same venue—this performance marks a major milestone in dancehall history.
“We are extremely excited to confirm Bounty's first U.S. performance in Brooklyn, home to the largest Jamaican diaspora population,” said Giscombe. “Bounty is eager to reconnect with his thousands of die-hard fans who have been anticipating his return. Brooklyn is where his U.S. journey began in 1992 with his breakout hit 'Coppershot,' so it's only fitting that his return happens there—his home away from home.”
Released on the legendary King Jammy's record label, 'Coppershot' resonated not only in the U.S., but also in the UK and Canada. The song, which references Bounty Killer’s own near-death experience at age 12 during politically-driven violence in his community, became a powerful anthem that launched his prolific career.
Since his debut in 1990, Bounty Killer has left an indelible mark on reggae and dancehall music. Known for his gritty lyrics and impactful social commentary, he has collaborated with global acts including The Fugees, Wu-Tang Clan, No Doubt, and Busta Rhymes. His catalog includes hit songs such as Anytime, Look, Eagle & Di Hawk, Sufferer, Slow Motion, Fed Up, Down In The Ghetto, It’s A Party, and Spy Fi Die—the latter leading to his debut album Jamaica’s Most Wanted. His 1996 Billboard charting album My Xperience remains one of the best-selling reggae albums in U.S. history.
Beyond his musical achievements, Bounty Killer is widely recognized for his philanthropic efforts. In 2018, he formalized his charitable work with the launch of the Bounty Killer Foundation, which has supported institutions like Kingston Public Hospital and Bellevue Hospital. Most recently, he and fellow artist Shaggy contributed $10,000 USD to assist dancehall veteran Lieutenant Stitchie with medical expenses following a brain hemorrhage.
