Basseterre, St. Kitts (March 02, 2006): St. Kitts and Nevis continues to be a top draw for regional and international institutions hosting events in the Caribbean.

The Ocean Terrace Inn (OTI) will be the venue for the board meeting of the National Alliance for Youth Sports (NAYS) Executive Committee. The group arrives on Wednesday, March 08 and will spend five days on island.

NAYS is a non-profit organization which aims to make sports and activities safe and positive by providing programs and services that add value to youth sports. It is based in Florida, U.S.A. The organization continues to contribute to the development of sport in the Federation by donating equipment and jerseys via the local Youth Sports Initiative.

During an SKNIS interview Senior Youth Officer in the Department of Youth Dave Connor revealed that the strategies, plans and future of the NAYS and the International Alliance for Youth Sports (its sister organization) will be looked at.

On Friday March 10, board members will get an opportunity to see first hand how the donated equipment is being used. This will take place during a demonstration at the Industrial Site Preschool.

The children will be dressed up in the gear sent by NAYS and will use Start Smart equipment to display hitting, catching and kicking skills. A tour of schools and sporting facilities will also be conducted on that day.

While here the executives will also be exposed to stakeholders in the youth and sport fields. Appearances at various media outlets are also planned.

This meeting is the latest to be held in the Federation. Later this year, St. Kitts and Nevis will welcome delegates attending the 58th International Whaling Commission Conference and the Caribbean Gift and Craft Show. Approximately 2,000 persons are expected for both events.
