Basseterre, St. Kitts – Sunday, 18th May 2025 — The People’s Action Movement (PAM) held its annual caucus on Sunday, May 18th, when a new National Executive was elected. The closed-door event, attended by strong delegations from all eight constituencies, also featured reports from the party’s administrative and constituency branches. The caucus remains a significant tradition within PAM, underscoring its commitment to internal democracy and organizational accountability.
Mr. Sheldon Pemberton was returned unopposed as Chairman, a clear endorsement of his stellar leadership over the past year. He will be supported by Mrs. Carlene Henry-Morton, a newcomer to the executive who was enthusiastically received by delegates. Her extensive experience and proven expertise were widely praised.
Also returned unopposed, were the two Deputy Political Leaders – Mr Azard Gumbs and Mr Lincoln David-Pelle.
Ms. Shermel Drew was elected Assistant Secretary, returning to a post she held two years prior, bringing both familiarity and capability to the role. Joining the executive as Treasurer is Mrs. Johanna Marsham-Wilkin, a seasoned finance professional with over two decades of experience. Her expertise is expected to significantly benefit the party’s financial planning and oversight.
The position of Public Relations Officer will once again be held by Ms. Laverne Caines, who was returned unopposed for the third consecutive year—affirming her strong track record in the role.
The composition of the newly elected executive has been widely applauded for the breadth of professional experience it brings to the table. With internal elections now concluded, PAM is focused on ramping up its outreach and policy engagement in preparation for the next general election, constitutionally due in 2027.
Political Leader Mrs. Natasha Grey-Brookes welcomed the newly elected team, stating:“I am eagerly anticipating working with this dynamic executive to build on the foundation laid over the past year. With elections just two years away, we are laser-focused on winning the hearts and minds of the electorate. In accordance with the party’s constitution, the new executive will be formally ratified at PAM’s National Convention on Sunday, June 1st. This year’s convention is expected to draw hundreds of members, friends, and supporters in celebration of the party’s historic 60th anniversary.
