Basseterre, St. Kitts: The solo onstage debut of Jamaican reggae sensation Tanya Stephens in St. Kitts and Nevis is generating quite a buzz on the streets.

The energetic and influential artiste kicks off the New Year with her bouncing rhythms and positives vibes at the 3rd Annual Carnival Reggae Bash slated for Carnival Village on Friday, January 1, 2010.

“I can’t wait,” Kim said. “She’s my girl since ‘Yuh Nuh Ready Fi Dis Yet.’ I hope she sings that.” The single, released in 1997, earned Stephens international recognition establishing her as a force to be reckoned with on the reggae scene. Tristan was just as enthusiastic, but mentioned more recent hit songs.

“These Streets, Spilt Milk, Heart of Stone. She bad for true. She is a good pick for the show.”

The New Year’s Concert is organized by One Family Promotions in collaboration with the Pasture Boys’ Social Club. The company’s Executive Director, Mahlon Goma, noted that this concert continues the tradition of fulfilling the public demand.

“We did a random survey asking persons who they would like to see. Tanya Stephens received the popular vote,” Goma revealed.

“We contacted her management and they noted that this time of year is very busy for Jamaican artistes but Tanya was excited about performing in St. Kitts and so we promptly booked her.” Rain or shine, Goma promised the show will start at 9:00 p.m.

He emphasized that all acts including local talents Infamus, C-Money, H20 Dancers, Sweet Sister Sensia and a popular band will also take the stage. Tents will be erected on the grounds to ensure patrons can enjoy the show without the worry of inclement weather.

Longstanding sponsors LIME, T.D.C., K.F.C. and Brisbane Productions were saluted for their continued support, while credit was given to newcomers PayKn, LIAT, Caribbean Airlines and Carib Breweries.

Party people looking for more action can hit up the official After Party at Ziggy’s on The Strip at Frigate Bay.

Special offers on drinks and other giveaways will be available. Stephens and other entertainers are expected to make an appearance to thank fans for their support.
