BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force has launched an investigation into a shooting incident that left Calvin Prentice with a gunshot wound to his shoulder.
The incident took place on the evening of Wednesday, June 5, in Church Ground, Nevis. According to police reports, around 8:00 p.m., Prentice was entering his home when he was confronted by a lone gunman who opened fire. He was struck in the shoulder and later rushed to the Alexandra Hospital, where he is currently listed in stable condition.
This latest act of violence comes amid growing concerns about public safety, as the Federation has now recorded three homicides for the year. The most recent occurred over the weekend, when Jason Sylvester Gilbert-Riley died from injuries sustained during a stabbing at Port Zante.
Police have since arrested and charged 49-year-old Eugene Ezekiel Davis of Main Street, Old Road, in connection with that fatal incident.
Authorities are once again urging members of the public to come forward with any information that could assist in solving this or other crimes. Community cooperation, they say, remains vital to keeping the Federation safe.
