BASSETERRE, St. Kitts -- Some people affectionately call him "Big Poppa Bear." Others refer to him as Frankie. But on Friday, June 6th, the world was introduced to "De-Syder," the newest entertainer for this year's Culturama Festival.
Frankie Syder, proprietor for the Apple Syder Ferry service that operates between St. Kitts, Nevis, and other Caribbean Islands launched his soca career on Friday at the Culturama 51 Soca Teaser.
Performing a Groovy tune called "UNAVAILABLE," De-Syder explained that music, alcohol, fun, fete, and constant liming are the reasons why you cannot get in touch with him.
De-Syder will also be participating in the C51 Senior Calypso competition under the same sobriquet. He will be releasing his first Calypso Bomb next week.
Frankie is a popular figure in the entertainment industry. For example, he has won several Karaoke competitions on St. Kitts-Nevis. Frankie is also a musician.
However, as De-Syder, he plans to win the Treble + 1 this year. That is the Senior Calypso crown for Culturama, the OECS Calypso crown in Anguilla in August, then the Sugar Mas 54 Senior monarch, plus the Culturama 51 Groovy Soca title.
